Abstract :
As mobile computing increases in popularity, inter-symbol interference (ISI) becomes more significant as one of the fundamental performance limitations in wireless communications. In this paper, we compare a modified structure for a decision feedback equalizer (DFE), called the adaptive canceler-equalizer (ACE), with the original DFE using finite-length filters. These two structures have different filter characteristics during training with finite-length filters. The performance of the ACE is shown to be better than either linear equalizers or decision-feedback equalizers for some channel environments
