Abstract
Ultrasonic velocimetric methods used to measure the velocity profiles in the human cardiovascular system encounter technological limitations that can be grouped into two categories: power resolution and spatial localization. The authors propose a rational procedure for obtaining arterial velocity profiles which should permit at the same time an increase of the power resolution and a reliable spatial localization. A stereotaxic device (mechanical arm) permits this procedure to be used in the clinical field. Preliminary results are presented and discussed.<>
