Abstract
This paper describes a system, the Web Access Control Front End (WACFE) for managing security on World Wide Web applications. The system was patented in the United States in November of 1995. Another patent, dealing with this topic, is pending and is anticipated to be awarded shortly. The system provides a method for managing the security of applications consisting of many files located in many directories with a minimum of effort on the part of the system administrators. Knowledge of the file access control system is not required when using WACFE to administer access control
