Abstract :
Shared services is an organizational culture of sharing and innovation across the organization. It enables the sharing of services by functions of organization such as Finance, Human Resources and Information Technology through a common mechanism of a shared services centre. Delivery of services is through Information and Communication Technology infrastructure. Shared services increases productivity through better customer experience and hence control the cost. Though, Shared services is not a new concept, it has not been exploited yet by the organizations of all industry sectors. This paper discusses possible pitfalls for the unsuccessful use of shared services and suggests the majors to overcome. A maturity model is suggested as a guideline for making shared services successful.
