Abstract :
Reliable appearance inspection is required for stabilizing product quality and for collecting data for design improvement. Applying image processing technology, we have developed an in-line picture quality inspecting machine which adopts a picture quality determination method taking into account human visual sense characteristics. The image processing system is capable of quickly detecting fine defects. The machine has a learning function to generate automatically the inspection criteria based on the measurement data of the approved product, so that the treatment of visual measurement data has been eased. The results of measurement with this machine are compared with those of manual visual inspection, and the validity of the machine is shown
