Abstract
An automated machine for mechanical processing of salmon has been developed. In this system, a fish on a moving conveyor is imaged by a charge coupled device (CCD) camera. The image is processed for feature recognition and a v-cut is performed for the head-removal operation. Also, various responses in the system have to be sensed for actuation and control purposes. The associated instrumentation issues are discussed
