Abstract
Capacity evaluation of the downlink of two systems, hybrid WB-TD/CDMA using asymmetric time division duplex and WB-CDMA, is presented. These systems correspond to the FRAMES Project Proposal Mode 1 and Mode 2 for UTRA (UTRA TDD and UTRA FDD mode, respectively). Cell capacity in Erl/carrier/cell and spectrum efficiency in kbps/MHz/cell are assessed for five different circuit switched services in a 5 MHz bandwidth. Two different resource allocation strategies are considered in the evaluation of the TD/CDMA-TDD system, classic fixed channel assignment (FCA) and simple dynamic channel allocation (SDCA). For WB-CDMA, only FCA is used. The blocking and the forced termination probabilities are presented and compared for the WB-TD/CDMA-TDD system using FCA and SDCA
