Abstract :
Interest in the structure and function of the developing embryonic heart and the increasing availability of video imaging and digital processing methods led to the development of a computer-based video imaging system for analyzing cardiac function in live chick embryos. The cardiac video image and ECG (electrocardiogram) were analyzed in real time within the cardiac cycle to study myocardial wall movement at progressive stages of development. The method and results are presented in detail.<>
