Abstract :
With the increase of train density and velocity of the urban rail transportation system, the main stream of the development of the traction power supply system is aiming at higher power, better power factor, better stability and the conservation of energy, making PWM rectifier a study focus in such field. Considering the traction voltage of 1500 V, this paper presents research on the characteristics of a novel traction power supply system based on three-level voltage-source PWM rectifier, featuring the topology of the novel traction power supply system, the control strategy of the three-level rectifier units as well as of their parallel modulation scheme of interleaved space vector modulation (ISVM). Based on the simulated and experimental results, is made a comparison between the performance characteristics of the traditional uncontrolled diode rectifier and the three-level voltage source PWM rectifier, summarizing their common points and differences.
