Abstract
This paper investigates the use of Control Lyapunov Function(CLF) as a terminal cost in Receding Horizon Control(RHC) scheme to achieve guaranteed stability. The system is the Single Machine Infinite Bus(SMIB) whose transient stability analysis is carried out using both RHC and CLF techniques. Stability issues of RHC have been discussed and RHC+CLF strategy is proposed to enhance the transient stability of SMIB system using Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor (TCSC).
