Abstract
This paper describes a stability analysis for high-order single-bit sigma-delta modulators (SDM) and a design methodology for continuous-time SDM loop filters. Key to the stability analysis is the modeling of the phase uncertainty of the sampled quantizer. The design method is based on continuous-time filter structures having sufficient degrees of freedom. A 6th order bandpass SDM was designed: sampled at 40 MHz it achieves 67 dB SNDR in a 200 kHz bandwidth at 9.15 MHz
