Abstract
The authors discuss the principle and characteristics of the instantaneous voltage drop compensation, which protects against damage from instantaneous voltage drop in systems such as a computer, a variable speed drive, a high-voltage discharge lamp, and a magnet switch, when instantaneous voltage drop occurs, the control voltage that is the same as the normal utility voltage. The instantaneous voltage drop compensator has a condenser bank as the energy storage component, so the system can be made small and lightweight compared with uninterruptible power supplies.A 1 φ 100 V 3 kVA instantaneous voltage drop compensator has been designed, and the performance has been verified experimentally
