Abstract :
An approach for implementation of amplifiers with high and accurate gain and with very wide bandwidth that is gain independent is introduced. The approach is based on sensing the output current of a unity gain amplifier. The current is then passed to a resistive load through a second stage without negative feedback. Simulations verify it is feasible to obtain gain bandwidth products close to 10 GHz in 1.2 μm CMOS technology. Experimental results of a breadboard and a test chip prototype are used to demonstrate the proposed approach
