  • Abstract
To study the effects of 32P irradiation at different doses on apoptosis in rat prostate cells cultured in vitro. Rat prostate cells was cultured in vitro, and used to establish model of radiation-inducing prostate apoptosis, the apoptosis percentages of rat prostate cells irradiated by β-ray irradiation at different doses were measured by flow cytometry (FCM) and AO detection. There were three groups in this experiment, prostate cells in the control group showed typical epithelial cell shape, there was no significant change in low dose radiation group, but in high dose irradiation group a few nucleus of prostate cells randomly shrank or smashed under fluorescence microscope, the nuclear DNA of low dose radiation group and the control group showed uniform yellow, the nucleus or cytoplasm in high dose radiation group was stained dense yellow-green, low rate of cell apoptosis occurred in the low dose radiation group & the control group, the rate of cell apoptosis in high dose radiation group significantly increased, charactered by hypodiploid peak. High dose irradiation can apparently induce apoptosis in rat prostate cells, while low dose irradiation can induce little apoptosis.
