  • Abstract
To review the predisposing factors of testicular torsion, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. There were 34 patients in China-Japan union hospital of Jilin university from Jan 2000 to Nov 2008. The clinical data of these patients were analyzed retrospectively. Orchiectomy was performed in 24 patients, orchiopexy was performed in 10 patients, 3 patients developped atrophic testis at half-a-year follow-up, 1 patient developped atrophic testis at one-year follow-up, 1 patient developped atrophic testis at one year and a half follow-up, the other 5 patients had the normal development with the same testis´ size and texture as other contemporaries upon follow-up. Timely diagnosis and treatment should be given to testicular torsion with 6 hours. The best treatment is surgical exploration for patient suspected testicular torsion. If the operation is not completed in time, the results are severe: orchiectomy, testicular atrophy after orchiopexy.
