  • Abstract
Recently, many dynamic models with hysteretic nonlinearity for giant magnetostrictive actuators have been established. In these models, the Young´s modules E of giant magnetostrictive materials is often introduced in the structural dynamic model of actuators. Research indicates that the Young´s modules E of this material changes with the stress and the magnetic field nonlinearly, which is called the Δ E effect. But the Young´s modulus is commonly treated as a constant in these models. In this paper, a novel dynamic model considering the Δ E effect is proposed by coupling the modified Jiles-Atherton hysteretic model, the nonlinear constitutive model for giant magnetostrictive materials and structural dynamics model of actuators. Experimental results demonstrate that the model can capture the dynamic and hysteretic behaviors of giant magnetostrictive actuators well.
