Abstract :
The authors describe a speed and position control system based on a fuzzy logic approach, integrated with a simple and effective adaptive algorithm. The proposed control scheme can be usefully applied to an electrical motor drive with decoupled torque and flux control. An experimental prototype, based on a permanent-magnet brushless drive, has been realized using a mixed structure composed of recently introduced fuzzy logic chips and conventional digital circuits. Under a reference speed trajectory with trapezoidal shape, the proposed regulator has shown good performance in simulation as well as in experimental tests
