Abstract
Before defining a model for uncertain and imprecise semistructured data, a clear understanding of the semantics of ignorance is necessary. We show that many dimensions of ignorance may coexist inside a semistructured data instance. We classify them, on the basis of a general data model, and we identify their interdependencies. We also show that the restriction of our model to the relational context leads to only one dimension of ignorance, as revealed in many other scientific works.
