Abstract
Joint probabilistic data association filter (JPDAF) was proposed first by Y. Bar-Shalom and E. Tsee (1975) to deal with multiple target tracking in a cluttered environment where the origin of measurements (hits) is ill-known, Thus, the association target measurement is the main purpose of JPDAF. The basis of the filter is the calculus of the joint probabilities over all targets and hits. The algorithm assigns a weight for reasonable hits and uses a weighted centroid of those hits to update the track. A novel weight assignment based on possibility theory and a similarity based approach is put forward and illustrated with a simulation example
