Abstract :
This paper proposes a socially inspired spectrum sharing scheme for a cognitive radio network consisting of several primary users and a secondary user. A primary user may not be willing to share his spectrum with the secondary user if they are not acquaintances. A new concept called spectrum sharing incentive factor (IF) is defined to measure the extent to which the primary user allows the secondary user to share his spectrum. The study is further extended to the case of multiple secondary users. Performance of the proposed schemes are evaluated in terms of access delay. The results show that the proposed schemes incur shorter access delay than the one ignoring social relationship.
