Abstract :
An analysis of a zero-current-switched quasi-resonant power converter (ZCS-QRC) including the effects of a finite magnetizing inductance is presented. The resulting topology seems to be very useful for the implementation of synchronous rectification techniques in a nondissipative way, allowing high-frequency operation. A design guideline based on the design procedure developed is given. Simulation and experimental results show very good performance in terms of high efficiency for low output voltage and high output current applications. Experimental results for two different output conditions (5 V/20 A and 3.3 V/20 A) are presented. Both converters work at a nominal switching frequency of 250 kHz, achieving a very good trade-off between efficiency and size
