Abstract
This paper extended a new method named finite element method-actual charge method to solve open boundary electrostatic fields. It is based on the evaluation of the potential on fictitious truncation boundary, according to the actual charge lying on the surfaces or volumes of the media. The fictitious truncation boundary should locate in air and enclose each part of media separately. The algebraic system obtained was solved iteratively. The procedure converged even if the truncation boundary was very close to the media. The major advantage of this method lies in its high efficiency of computing the electrostatic field in which sources and media spread at a relatively wide region. Some validation examples were provided.
