Abstract :
This paper depicts the design of a sphygmus detection device for measuring two adjacent blood pressures at a close distance, which overcomes the difficulty in acquiring the correct signals by placing a pressure sensor and a potentiometer upon the radial artery at the wrist within the width of a fingertip. The sphygmus detection device containing two micro-pressure-sensors is placed on the radial artery at the wrist for measuring pressures. In consequence, it is not feasible to directly acquire two blood pressures into a digital signal processing unit for such a close 3-5 mm measuring distance. This paper proposes a technique using an analog circuit to the detect delay time between two adjacent blood pressures, and computing downstream blood pressure in a digital signal processing unit, to obtain both pressures. The verification of the realized system gives satisfactory results.
