Title :
Multicarrier modulation with data dependent frequency domain redundancy

Abstract :
Discrete multitone (DMT) modulation uses a time domain cyclic prefix to allow for simplified equalization at the receiver. It is shown that data dependent frequency domain redundancy can be added at the transmitter which allows standard DMT demodulation at the receiver without requiring a cyclic prefix. Benefits include the ability to add redundancy to subchannels with small capacities such that the resulting data rate loss is minimized with respect to methods which use a cyclic prefix, and that the prefix length can be dynamically adjusted for different channel conditions while maintaining a fixed frame and transform size.
