Abstract :
The NASA Dryden Flight Research Center and Boeing are developing a damage adaptive flight control system that utilizes neural network technology to predict the stability and control parameters of the aircraft, and uses this data to continuously optimize the control system response. This intelligent flight control system (IFCS) is designed to provide consistent handling quality response to the pilot under normal conditions and during unforeseen damage or failure conditions to the aircraft.
