Abstract
Since situations of parallelism, oblique approach and crossing between the transmission line and pipeline have frequently happened in China, the electromagnetic influence on metal pipeline near the transmission line becomes increasingly prominent. This paper first briefly introduces the prediction calculation methods of electromagnetic interference when the AC power line is paralleled with buried metal pipe. Secondly, by modeling based on pipeline protection measures commonly taken in practical projects and proceeding a large number of simulations, this paper studies electromagnetic interferences on the pipelines before and after protection measures were taken in different conditions (including normal operation, fault operation, and struck by lightning), and tries to evaluate effect and proper scope of each protection measure. At last, combined with electromagnetic interferences on nearby pipeline of some UHV AC power line, we discuss the technical and economic feasibility of bare copper conductor connected to the pipeline.
