Abstract :
With the growing needs of transmitting multimedia traffic in mobile Ad hoc networks (MANET), how to provide quality of service (QoS) guarantees in MANET becomes a hotspot. This paper introduces SWAN-a simple but available QoS model for MANET. After analyzing its principle, working background and drawbacks, a probabilistic-priority-based PSWAN model is proposed in this paper. By combining the probabilistic priority scheduling algorithm with SWAN, PSWAN solves the problem of disability of supporting multi-class differentiated services; and via improving the rate control algorithm, PSWAN performs better in end-to-end delay. Its performance is evaluated via simulations.
