Abstract :
We present an application of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach to the design of observer-based, linear time invariant controllers satisfying some dissipative properties. Our main result deals with estimator eigenvalues placement and uses the dissipativity theory of Willems (1972). The approach is specifically intended and applied to the robust control of flexible structures. It is straightforward and amenable to an efficient numerical treatment due to the existence of some interior point algorithms recently introduced in control theory
