Abstract
The importance of internetworking has increased due to the proliferation of LANs. One of the most efficient ways of network interconnection will be the use of the ISDN. A LAN/ISDN gateway is proposed to allow LAN users to establish connection flexibly with LANs from different vendors, and also with ISDN terminals. In order to achieve this goal, a new addressing scheme, deriving from the hierarchical addressing technique, and the multiple-host assignment technique, is adopted
