Abstract :
This research reports the results of a single case study that reports an endeavor of IT-based delivery systems implementation from the Egyptian banking industry. The research explores some management practices, and other related aspects concerning effectiveness of implementation that are associated to strategic competitiveness. Reaching strategic competitiveness through IT-based delivery systems is challenging, as effective management of change and employee involvement are indispensible. The researcher used multiple sources in data collection and was guided by two trends of research, executive studies and reports, and academic research, management theories and models, which interplayed in some extent to three areas of concern; namely, strategic management, management of change, and information systems. The change process was explained by looking at the case of Union Trust Bank of Egypt (UTB). Findings show that as people were not entirely involved in the change process, dedication and enthusiasm were very low, and influenced by the interplay of several management practices, that undermined the process, and poorer levels of strategic competitiveness were achieved.
