Abstract :
We discuss the application of system identification in a hardware demonstration of a “smart materials” active vibration isolation mount. We performed two feedback control designs using quadratic optimality criteria: one based on finite impulse response (FIR) models and one based on state space models. We do not make a comparative judgment since data collection was tailored to the FIR model, although we point out some unique features of the FIR procedure. Both designs met the performance requirement
