Abstract
The performance of a communication network can be evaluated before the network is physically implemented. One method of evaluation is through software simulation. This paper illustrates an approach for designing and analysing the software for a small network simulator using the software package Software through Pictures (StP). StP is based on the object modelling method developed by James Rumbaugh (1991) and is called Object Modelling Technique (OMT). OMT is first introduced and discussed. The software package StP/OMT then introduced and finally an example of modelling a small network is presented
