Abstract :
This paper reviews and analyzes various light source schemes for high speed WDM passive optical networks in terms of configuration, performance and cost, including self- seeding of reflective semiconductor optical amplifiers (RSOAs), carrier distribution, remote external seeding of Fabry-Perot laser diodes (FPLDs) and downlink carrier remodulation.
