Abstract
We study the performance of three switch implementations for the guaranteed frame rate (GFR) service category when used to provide a LAN interconnection service with a minimum guaranteed bandwidth. Our simulations show that the double-EPD implementation is sensitive to the maximum burst size (MBS) parameter of the GFR traffic contract, while an implementation based on weighted fair buffer allocation provides almost the same performance as a more complex implementation with per-VC accounting and scheduling. We also evaluate the performance of the ERICA+ algorithm with the ABR service category. Our simulations do not show a performance advantage for ERICA+ over the GFR implementations when providing a LAN interconnection service with a minimum guaranteed bandwidth
