Abstract :
Some effects of parameters such as fiber loss, fiber dispersion and amplifier spacing in soliton systems are considered. It is shown by computer simulation that the soliton system using Er-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs) has potential to realize a trans-Pacific system (over 10000 km) without any three-R-repeaters. The relation between the soliton period and the EDFA spacing is considered
