Abstract
This paper reports the results of a study recently conducted to examine the extent of human resource practices being emphasized by the Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises. A personally administered survey using structured questionnaire was employed in this study. A total of 108 useable questionnaires were analyzed. The findings reveal that there is considerable diversity among SMEs in relation to the adoption of human resource practices where a majority of these organizations use an informal approach in managing their human resource practices. A discussion of the findings and implications for future research are offered.
