Abstract :
There has been a wind of change in higher education system in Rwanda since 2008 with a strong focus on student centred learning. National University of Rwanda introduces blended learning, a combination of traditional teaching with technology assistance. Very few researches have been conducted to assess the impact of this system in Rwanda. This paper explores and evaluates the adaptability of blended learning at the University. The crucial factors for the assessment are carefully picked, taking into consideration of the environment of studies. Two sets of questionnaires are distributed to assess the perspectives of staff as well as students about the blended learning. Staff and students positively approve blended learning in spite of some difficulties. As this new technology is in its infancy, some problems are felt: student-computer ratio, awareness of eLearning training for the staffs and students, basic computer usage training for the staff and students would solve these problems. Provisions of support in terms of Policy, Human Resource, and finance for eLearning are essential for enhancement of the system.
