Abstract
In this paper, we study the problem of sampled-data output feedback for a class of nonlinear systems. The main contributions of this work are twofold: (i) we develop a systematic design procedure for the sampled-data observer and the observer-based sampled-data controller by combining the backstepping method and two kinds of discretization approaches; (ii) we provide a theoretical analysis of the sampled-data closed-loop system, which shows that the sampled-data observer error and the state of the plant can be regulated within any given neighborhood of the origin by an appropriate choice of design parameters and sampling period. Finally, an illustrative example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the presented method.
