Abstract :
Three implementations of DPSK and five implementations of DQPSK are described and studied. Their ability to provide an upgrade to 40 Gbit/s over 10 Gbit/s infrastructure is compared. It is found that amplitude parallel modulator DQPSK provides the best option.
