Abstract :
This paper presents a comparative study of two countries based on an online survey to establish the impact of change on information technology (IT) professionals. The online questionnaire survey covered two major issues - the extent of the impact of change and management response. It found that most of the organizations were in the more advanced stage of IT maturity, with a large majority implementing client/server technology in consultation with staff. Most of the respondents found their new role more exciting. They also indicated that their preferred career path was towards a management role. However a significant percentage of respondents were more interested in higher remuneration and did not rule out moving to better paid positions even in a volatile market. These findings and others are of practical significance for organizations involved in change management and for improving IT change management policies and strategies in particular, in today´s ever-changing business environment.
