Abstract :
For the realization of future portable radio systems, the investigation of the propagation characteristics in micro- and pico-cell environments is an important base for the development and research of new systems. A delay profile measuring equipment, (channel sounder) can be a powerful tool to analyze the propagation characteristics in small-scale environments as well as large-scale ones, if it has a time-delay resolution suitable for the size of environment, such a resolution as enough to distinguish a path difference of 5 m. The design of a time-domain channel sounder suitable for a small scale environments such as an indoor and pico-cell radio environment is discussed
