  • Abstract
The marine radio navigation system generally works in the MW and SW, to make use of the ground wave for navigation and positioning. The calculation on ground wave signal field strength is the theoretical basis of the whole system design, which decides the working area, the sensitivity of receiver and the dynamic range of the system. For the problem of the complex calculation on ground wave attenuation function, this paper presents three methods that are exploration approach, refined calculation and the improvement of the refined calculation. And the simulations in the different frequency have been done for the method of the improvement of refined calculation. The results indicate that this method can meet the demand of the calculation error. At the same time, on the base of the refined analysis of ground wave vertical component calculation, this paper also presents an approximately fit calculation. Through the simulating comparison, it proves this method can be used in the rapid calculation for engineering.
