Abstract :
A coplanar waveguide (CPW) fed elliptical slot antenna with a fork-like tuning stub is proposed for ultra wideband (UWB) applications. The UWB characteristic is achieved after tuning various design parameters. Good agreement is obtained between the simulation and experiment. Both of them have demonstrated that the impedance bandwidth (the return loss <-10dB) of the antenna is about 112% with respect to the center frequency at 6.5GHz. It is also shown that the proposed antenna has nearly omni directional radiation patterns over the entire bandwidth.
