Abstract
In this paper, a new Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tool that estimates the probability of successful hacking of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) is presented. The tool uses a new analytical model for the probability of successful hacking that is developed using Markov chain analysis. A Graphical User Interface (GUI) is designed as a designer-friendly interface to analyze the security of a PCB based on its technology parameters, which are calibrated using image processing techniques. Based on the simulation results, we propose new design ideas to improve the immunity of PCBs against reverse engineering.
