Abstract :
The ATM Forum has recently approved a specification for IMA. Based on this specification, Mitel Semiconductor has implemented most of the IMA functionality in an integrated circuit (IC). The component is now in full production. The paper provides an overview of the IMA protocol and Mitel´s implementation. There follow discussions on the decisions made and their consequences for the development effort and the product
