Abstract :
A simple method of direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation for an unequal linear array, which uses the spatial smoothing MUSIC technique, is presented. In the case of the same sensor number, this method which adopts the appropriate array geometry arrangement can improve the resolvability of DOA estimation more obviously than the uniform linear array. It also overcomes the weakness of the ambiguity of the DOA estimation and improves the poor property of decorrelation in the conventional unequal linear array.
