Abstract
Smart antenna techniques offer the possibility of increasing the performance of mobile cellular communications systems by improving immunity to co-channel interference. Thus, the frequency-reuse distance can be reduced, and the number of available channels per cell is increased. In this paper a smart antenna was designed, and the number of elements, the distance between elements, and the weighting coefficients were calculated. The increase in the number of channels per cell was found to be 75%.
