  • Abstract
The author attempts to provide an understanding of the time-of-use costing of electrical energy and how to take advantage of it. The purpose of power rate structures is explained, and an understanding of power rate structures is provided. It is shown that by being aware of the incremental costs in their rate, managers are able to accurately evaluate the benefits of electrical kilowatt demand reduction and kilowatthour energy management projects. Also, by being aware of other rate options, managers can add or switch to other rate structures that may be better suited to their operations.
