Abstract
We report on the operating characteristics of a 32 GHz pulsed gyrotron that has been designed and built at the Associate Plasma Laboratory of INPE. Experimental results include frequency and power measurements on resonant modes TE5.1, TE2.2 and TE 0.2. Measured frequencies are in close agreement with the self-consistent calculated values and power measurements were made using a fast response calorimeter with a sensitivity of 0.1°C/Wmin. Results are presented for beam voltages from 30 to 40 kV and electron beam current up to 5.0 A. In single TE2.2-mode operation at 30.38 GHz an output peak power of 6 kW was obtained with an overall efficiency of 18%
