Abstract
A novel band notched ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with arc-shaped patch is proposed and investigated. By etching a complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) in the radiating patch, a very sharp notched band of 5.6GHz–5.9GHz with return loss larger than −7dB is achieved. The center frequency of the notched band is 5.8GHz at which the wireless LAN service is assigned. The −10dB return loss bandwidth is 3GHz–9.8GHz for the proposed antenna, which is about 106% with respect to the center frequency of 6.4GHz. Details of the antenna design and simulation results on the return loss, voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) and the E-and H-plane radiation patterns of the proposed antenna are presented.
